Fine Art Print FAQ

What is your print return policy?
Customer satisfaction is guaranteed.  If you are unhappy for any reason, let us know within fourteen days of receiving your order and we'll provide a full refund of the purchase price, less shipping and handling fees.  Please see our full Return Policy for more details.

How do I use my discount code?
During the checkout process, there is a box for you to enter your discount code.  Once the code is entered, your discount will be deducted from the invoice total.

Do I have to create an account to make purchases online?
No, you don't need to create an account to shop online.

How are your prints made?
We create exhibition-quality prints using professional ink-jet printers, archival pigment inks, and professional photo papers.  Depending on the image, prints are made using either Epson Premium Luster Photo Paper or Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Matte Paper, as determined by the artist.  All prints are matted with white, beveled, archival, 8-ply mattes that are precision-cut to fit around the image perfectly.  All prints are signed on the front with the edition number.

Are aluminum prints available?
Yes.  High-definition aluminum prints are created by infusing archival pigment inks into the surface of the aluminum and then sealing the image with a high-gloss finish.  These prints have the highest possible archival rating and will literally last forever.  They can be hung outdoors and exposed to direct sunlight without any damage and liquids are easily wiped off.  A 1/2" spacer for hanging is attached to the back of the print which pushes the print away from the wall so it appears to float.  Aluminum prints are signed on the back with the edition number and include a certificate of authenticity.

How close do prints match the images online?
We use calibrated monitors to provide accuracy between the images displayed online and our prints.  Photo papers have different tonal ranges than monitors, and because most people do not have calibrated monitors, it's possible that prints will show colors slightly differently than those viewed online.  This does NOT affect the quality of our images, which is exceptional.

How do I know my print is authentic?
Each print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity that is signed by Scott Setterberg and includes image details and materials used to create the print.

Who controls copyright of prints?
All rights are controlled by Scott Setterberg, who created the prints from his original transparencies, negatives, or digital files. Copyright law states that copyright is not transferred to the buyers of photographic prints.

What is an edition?
An edition is a limited number of prints made of a particular image.  Scott Setterberg sets and honors all edition sizes, and once an edition is closed, it is closed forever.

What is an Artist Proof?
An artist proof, or AP, is a fixed number of extra prints created outside the limited-edition set. These prints are usually kept by the artist, but can also be sold, usually at higher prices than those prints in the limited edition.

Is framing available for your prints?
Yes.  We frame all prints up to 16" x 24" in house and can make arrangements to have larger prints framed for you.  If you would like a larger print framed please contact us at support@colortexturephoto.com and we will provide a quote for that service.

Why should I have you frame my prints?
We offer beautiful, exhibition-quality custom framing at unbeatable prices. We only use archival-quality materials, and each print is framed using hardwood frames with a flat black finish. These frames compliment images incredibly well and create a nice contrast to our white matte boards.  Your prints will look amazing, be protected, and you’ll be able to hang your artwork immediately after receiving it.

Are your framing materials archival?
Yes.  Our framing is conservation quality, meaning the print is matted and framed using methods that reduce deterioration from environmental factors like air pollution, heat, light, and humidity.  All materials that come in contact with your print are acid-free and archival-quality, and will not damage, deteriorate or discolor your print.

How are your prints framed?
Our prints are matted with white, beveled, archival, 8-ply mattes that are precision-cut to fit around the image perfectly.  There are at least two inches of matting on each side of the image to ensure the print is displayed properly.  All frames are flat black, finished on the back with craft paper, D-rings and hanging wire attached, and a Certificate of Authenticity.

Do you frame with glass or plexiglass?
We frame prints with glass and plexiglass, depending on the frame size.  Standard and UV-protection anti-glare museum glass and plexiglass options are available. Our larger prints (16" x 24" and up) are framed with plexiglass because it's lighter than glass, reduces shipping costs, and makes for easier handling, storage, and hanging.

What are your frame specs and sizes?
For print sizes of 12" x 18" and less, our frames are 3/4" wide, measured across the face of the frame.  16" x 24" framed prints measure 1" wide across the face of the frame.  All frames are 1/2" deep, measured from the front to the back of the frame.  Below is a chart with sizes.  Frame measurements reflect the distance between the inside edges of the frames.

How should I hang my framed prints?
Artwork should be hung at eye level, which means that the center point of the frame should be approximately 60” from the floor. When installing artwork over furniture, leave at least 10” between the bottom of the frame and the top of the furniture.  Always avoid hanging framed prints in direct sunlight.

How should I care for framed prints?
Plexiglass requires special care.  Do NOT brush dust away with your hand or a dry cloth as this can damage plexiglass.  Do NOT use products like Windex that contain ammonia with plexiglass.  Water and a clean, soft cloth works best, but you may also use a cleaner that is specially designed for acrylic.  You can also make a solution of warm water and a little mild dish detergent.  Dampen a soft cloth or sponge with your solution and wipe the plexiglass clean.  Gently dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.  Always avoid hanging framed prints in direct sunlight.

How are prints shipped?

Framed prints are shipped with cardboard corners, bubble wrap, and other packing materials inside heavy-duty cardboard boxes or crates.  All packages are labeled with special handling instructions. Please see our Shipping Info for more details.
