Photography has taught me that preparation matters. Patience matters. Knowing when to wait matters. Sometimes the most memorable images aren't created because everything went according to plan, but because you stayed long enough for nature to surprise you. It's evenings like this that reinforce why I continue returning to the Palouse year after year. Every season is different, every sunset tells its own story, and every photography workshop creates new memories.
Costa Rica is one of the most visually stunning places for nature photographers. Waterfalls, rivers, rainforests, cloud forests, coastlines, lakes, volcanoes, and wildlife - it’s all here. But most photographers who visit Costa Rica don’t return home with the images they had in mind. Not because the locations aren’t incredible, but because Costa Rica is much harder to photograph than it looks.
ColorTexturePhotoTours is excited to announce its 2026 photography workshop schedule, featuring immersive, all-inclusive tours in Costa Rica, Oregon, and Washington. Designed for photographers who crave spectacular scenery, expert instruction, and stress-free travel, these carefully curated experiences bring creativity to life in some of the world’s most awe-inspiring destinations.
Costa Rica is a magical tropical paradise overflowing with spectacular landscapes and endless photo opportunities. Across this small but diverse country you’ll find lush rainforests, dramatic cloud forests, soaring volcanoes, golden beaches, and hundreds of sensational waterfalls. The land is thriving with dense jungles, vibrant rivers and streams, shimmering lakes, and colorful wildlife that make every corner of the country feel like a new discovery.
This morning, after posting one of my upcoming Costa Rica photography workshops on Facebook, I did something I rarely do - scrolled my newsfeed. To my surprise, the top post wasn’t another sponsored ad or random meme. It was from Outdoor Photographer, announcing its official return. That’s right - one of the most beloved nature photography magazines, that disappeared overnight, is making a comeback.
Costa Rica is filled with breathtaking national parks, pristine beaches, spectacular waterfalls, towering volcanoes, misty cloud forests, lush rainforests, colorful jungle rivers and streams, serene lakes, volcanic hot springs, and remarkable wildlife, too. What sets my workshops apart from other companies is that we capture all of it. Yes, we photograph wildlife - but also seek out the diverse landscapes, natural wonders, and cultural richness that other workshops overlook.
