Expert Instructor
Your photography instructor was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and still resides there today. He has 35 years of nature and landscape photography experience and has been exploring these fantastic locations his entire life. He is passionate about helping photographers improve their creative skills and loves sharing these gorgeous scenes with others.
"I toured Olympic National Park with Scott and it was an incredible experience. We hit all the major attractions, as well as some unknown gems, and the food and accommodations were simply wonderful. We explored the Hoh and Quinault rainforests and their gorgeous mossy trees and ferns. We captured sea stacks and sunsets along the Pacific Coast, at crystal clear Lake Crescent, and near the snowcapped Olympic Mountains. We hiked to Sol Duc and Marymere Falls, both of which are fantastic waterfalls in lovely old-growth forests, and we photographed rivers, streams, a bit of wildlife, and some colorful wildflowers, too. The best part is that the tour was all-inclusive so I didn’t have to rent a car, drive everywhere, fill up for gas, or find hotels and restaurants on my own. Scott planned everything perfectly, and when I priced out the all-inclusive cost vs. booking everything myself, I saved $300 and didn’t have to do a thing! Huge thanks Scott for an amazing tour!" ~ Shelli J. | Oregon
Day 1 - Arrive in Seattle / Hurricane Ridge / Port Angeles
A representative from ColorTexturePhotoTours will meet you at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) or your hotel before we begin our journey into the spectacular landscapes of Olympic National Park. Once the group is together, we will travel by private transfer to Port Angeles and settle into our first beautiful hotel overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca. After a wonderful welcome dinner, we will travel to Hurricane Ridge and photograph the breathtaking Olympic Mountains as evening light illuminates the rugged snowcapped peaks. Surrounded by alpine meadows, colorful wildflowers, wildlife, and sweeping mountain views, Hurricane Ridge offers an unforgettable introduction to the beauty and atmosphere of Olympic National Park. After photographing sunset, we will return to our hotel for the evening.
Day 2 - Marymere Falls / Lake Crescent / Port Angeles
After breakfast, post processing instruction, editing sessions, and image reviews, we will travel to beautiful Marymere Falls, one of the most peaceful and enchanting waterfalls in Olympic National Park. The trail winds through lush forest filled with towering trees, moss-covered branches, and vibrant green vegetation before arriving at the graceful cascade hidden deep within the forest. After lunch, we will continue exploring the Lake Crescent area before heading to a spectacular hidden location overlooking the crystal-clear waters of the lake. Surrounded by forested mountains and peaceful shoreline scenery, we will photograph sunset in one of the most serene and beautiful locations in the Pacific Northwest before returning to Port Angeles for another exceptional dinner.
Day 3 - Madison Falls / Sol Duc Falls / Port Angeles
After breakfast, editing sessions, and post processing instruction, we will travel to colorful Madison Falls, a beautiful cascade surrounded by lush forest and vibrant moss-covered rock walls. After photographing the falls, we will continue deeper into the Sol Duc Valley where towering evergreens, rushing rivers, and dense rainforest scenery create an unforgettable Pacific Northwest atmosphere. After lunch, we will spend the afternoon photographing the magnificent cascades of Sol Duc Falls, one of the most iconic waterfalls in Olympic National Park. Surrounded by dramatic forest scenery and rushing water, Sol Duc offers endless creative opportunities for long exposures and intimate landscape photography. Afterwards, we will return to our hotel, relax, and enjoy another wonderful dinner.
Day 4 - Hoh Rainforest / Ruby Beach / Kalaloch
After breakfast, we will travel into the legendary Hoh Rainforest, one of the largest protected temperate rainforests in the United States and one of the most magical landscapes in North America. As we wander through the famous Hall of Mosses, we will photograph towering trees draped in brilliant green moss, lush ferns, winding streams, and the rich textures and atmosphere that make the rainforest feel almost prehistoric. After photographing the rainforest and enjoying lunch, we will continue toward the Pacific Coast and check into our next beautiful hotel overlooking the ocean. Following dinner, we will travel to breathtaking Ruby Beach where massive sea stacks rise dramatically from the shoreline beneath colorful Pacific sunsets. With rugged coastline, crashing waves, driftwood, and incredible evening light, Ruby Beach is one of the most spectacular coastal photography locations in the Pacific Northwest.
