Oregon Fall Colors Photo Tour

Starvation Creek, Oregon

The all-inclusive Oregon Fall Colors photography tour primarily showcases the best waterfalls in Oregon during peak fall color season. Along with awesome cascades, we will explore and photograph two of the Seven Wonders of Oregon - majestic Mt. Hood and the world-famous Columbia River Gorge. We will also photograph sparkling lakes, beautiful old-growth forests, rushing streams, and pristine Pacific Northwest flora. 

With only 4 spots available, you will improve your photo skills with personalized, professional photography instruction, and enhance your digital workflow and editing skills with one-on-one post processing instruction. You will use various exposure techniques, neutral density and graduated filters, and learn ways to improve your compositions. You will also do some focus stacking, HDR processing, and image reviews, as well. Aside from the technical stuff, you will rest well in award-winning hotels, enjoy delicious gourmet cuisine, and travel comfortably in private transportation.

Photographers of all skill levels are welcome. The only requirement is a basic understanding of your DSLR, SLR, or mirrorless camera.

Physical Requirements
Participation requires that travelers be able to walk unassisted for three miles over uneven, potentially muddy and slippery trails, and up-and-down inclines with moderate altitude gain. There are hikes over a variety of terrain including pavement, gravel, and dirt trails with large roots, rocks, and stairs. Travelers should be aware that heat and humidity could be high in some locations and daily excursions can be more difficult during inclement weather.




ITINERARY  


Day 1 - Arrive in Portland / Columbia River Gorge / Starvation Creek / White River Falls / Hood River
We set out by private transfer from Portland, Oregon and to the world-famous Columbia River Gorge - the first of the Seven Wonders of Oregon we explore - and photograph the colorful and little known, Starvation Creek.  Afterwards, we'll head to our fantastic hotel, check in, and have a great dinner before heading to spectacular White River Falls.  White River Falls is an outstanding double-tiered waterfall that drops into a rugged basalt gorge near an abandoned hydroelectric power station that once energized and irrigated the region.  We'll shoot the falls and capture the incredible sunset, then return to our hotel.

Note: Please schedule flight arrival at Portland International Airport (PDX) no later than 12P. 
Starvation Creek, White River Falls, Oregon

Day 2 - Multnomah Falls / Horsetail Falls / Ponytail Falls / Fairy Falls / Lost Lake / Hood River
After breakfast we will travel by private transfer to photograph the most famous waterfall in Oregon, Multnomah Falls.  This 620' tall, two-tiered beauty is the most visited natural attraction in Oregon.  After shooting, we will travel down the Scenic Columbia River Highway to Horsetail & Ponytail Falls and spend some time photographing both falls.  We will break for lunch and then travel to photograph beautiful Fairy Falls and the fantastic stream flowing below it.  Afterwards, we will have a delicious dinner, then travel to Lost Lake and capture the sunset with spectacular Mt. Hood reflecting in the glossy lake.  Mt. Hood is the second of the Seven Wonders of Oregon that we photograph and this magnificent landscape will leave a lasting impression.  After shooting, we'll return to our hotel in Hood River.

Day 3 -  McDowell Creek / Salem
After breakfast and editing images, we set out by private transfer to McDowell Creek to photograph Royal Terrace Falls and Majestic Falls.  After shooting all afternoon, we will check into our incredible hotel in Salem and enjoy a fantastic dinner.

Day 4 - Silver Falls State Park / Salem
After breakfast we set out by private transfer to Silver Falls State Park.  People call Silver Falls State Park the “crown jewel” of the Oregon State Parks system, and once you visit, you'll know why.  Silver Falls State Park is a scenic treasure and we will photograph several gorgeous waterfalls there, as well as old growth forests, bridges, and streams.  After shooting we will return to our hotel and enjoy another delicious dinner.

Day 5 - Sweet Creek Falls / Eugene

After breakfast and editing images, we travel by private transfer to Sweet Creek Falls where we'll spend the afternoon photographing a series of beautiful waterfalls.  After shooting, we'll travel to our fantastic hotel in Eugene and have another incredible dinner.

Day 6 - Depart Portland
After breakfast, we'll travel by private transfer to Portland International Airport, where you'll catch your flight home.
