Oregon is an incredibly diverse state, and we take advantage of it on this exceptional, all-inclusive photography tour. We explore three of the Seven Wonders of Oregon - the world-famous Columbia River Gorge, gigantic, snowcapped Mt. Hood, and the sensational Oregon Coast. We photograph fantastic seascapes, stunning sea stacks, mossy old-growth forests, gorgeous lakes, eight of the best waterfalls in Oregon, beautiful cascading streams, and spectacular sunsets, too.
With only 4 spots available, you will improve your photo skills with personalized, professional photography instruction, and enhance your digital workflow and editing skills with one-on-one post processing instruction. You will use various exposure techniques, neutral density and graduated filters, and learn ways to improve your compositions. You will also do some focus stacking, Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), HDR processing, and image reviews, as well. Aside from the technical stuff, you will rest well in award-winning hotels, enjoy delicious gourmet cuisine, and travel comfortably in private transportation.
Photographers of all skill levels are welcome. The only requirement is a basic understanding of your DSLR, SLR, or mirrorless camera.
Participation requires that travelers be able to walk unassisted for three miles over uneven, potentially muddy and slippery trails, and up-and-down inclines with moderate altitude gain. There are hikes over a variety of terrain including pavement, gravel, and dirt trails with large roots, rocks, and stairs and daily excursions can be more difficult during inclement weather.
Day 1 - Arrive in Portland / Munra Falls / Wahclella Falls / Lost Lake / Hood River
We set out by private transfer from Portland, Oregon to the world-famous Columbia River Gorge - the first of the Seven Wonders of Oregon we explore - and photograph incredible Munra Falls and Wahclella Falls and the beautiful stream that flows along the trail. Afterwards, we'll head to our fantastic hotel, check in, and have a great dinner before heading to Lost Lake and capture the sunset with spectacular Mt. Hood reflecting in the glossy lake. Mt. Hood is the second of the Seven Wonders of Oregon that we photograph and this magnificent landscape will leave a lasting impression. After shooting, we'll return to our hotel in Hood River.
Note: Please schedule flight arrival at Portland International Airport (PDX) no later than 12P.
Day 2 - Starvation Creek / White River Falls / Hood River
After breakfast we set out for little-known and often overlooked Starvation Creek and spend a few hours exploring and shooting the beautiful 190-foot waterfall and stream below it. After shooting, we will have lunch and edit images throughout the afternoon. After another delicious dinner, we will travel to White River Falls, an outstanding double-tiered waterfall that drops into a rugged basalt gorge near an abandoned hydroelectric power station that once energized and irrigated the region. We'll shoot the falls and capture the incredible sunset, then return to our hotel.
Day 3 - Ecola State Park / Hug Point / Cannon Beach / Seaside
After breakfast and editing images, we travel by private transfer to Seaside where we'll check into our next hotel and have lunch. Afterwards we head to Ecola State Park and capture the gorgeous vista above the ocean before traveling to Hug Point. Once there, we'll photograph the stunning seascapes before heading to spectacular Haystack Rock for sunset. After shooting, we'll have a fantastic late dinner and return to our hotel.
Day 4 - Abiqua Falls / Salem
After breakfast, we travel by private transfer to Salem, check into our next incredible hotel, have lunch, then continue to sensational Abiqua Falls. Abiqua Falls drops 92' over a columnar basalt amphitheater that's covered in redish-orange and green lichens and mosses. This location is jaw-dropping and easily one of the premier waterfalls in Oregon. We'll shoot the falls all afternoon then return to our hotel in Salem and have another fantastic dinner.
Day 5 - Silver Falls State Park / Salem
After breakfast we travel by private transfer to Silver Falls State Park which is known as the "crown jewel" of the Oregon state parks system.
