2023 Costa Rica Photo Tours

2023 Costa Rica Photo Tours

The last three years have been extremely difficult for Costa Rica tourism and many hotels are now implementing new policies to recuperate lost costs.  This has made securing accommodations extremely challenging due to dramatic price increases and non-refundable deposits to reserve rooms.  Despite these challenges, I have secured fantastic award-winning hotels with substantial discounts in order to keep from increasing my prices, and this is one of the many benefits of booking an all-inclusive Costa Rica photo tour with a company that has long-established relationships in the country.

There are other challenges as well, but again, because of my relationships, I have been able to sidestep those landmines and pass the savings on to you.  Let's just say that booking your own travel arrangements at this point will result in spending at least 30% more on hotels and transportation alone.

That said, I'm looking forward to providing you with exceptional nature photography and landscape photography experiences for the 2023 Costa Rica photo tour season, and here are the tours I have lined up for you...

We start things off with the Costa Rica Landscapes Photo Tour.  This amazing, 6-day, 5-night all-inclusive photography tour begins in the capital city of San Jose and features Sarapiqui to the north with its wide rivers, rustic bridges, beautiful waterfalls, and gorgeous tropical flowers.

Las Gemelas, Bajos del Toro, Costa Rica
After Sarapiqui, we explore Bajos del Toro and Las Gemelas, and both locations are filled with sensational landscapes, unique waterfalls, shallow rocky rivers, vibrant pools, and a splash of exotic wildlife.

Sarapiqui River
We also visit little known Toro Amarillo and photograph a jaw-dropping location with several spectacular waterfalls, some of which plunge directly into the breathtaking Rio Toro that's lined with bright orange boulders and gorgeous jungle foliage.

Catarata Serena, Costa Rica
We finish this tour high above the busy small city of San Ramon in a misty cloud forest and photograph lush gardens, colorful hummingbirds, and a private farm with a variety of Costa Rica landscapes.

Meadow Lake, Costa Rica
Next up is the incredible Colors of Costa Rica Photo Tour.  This all-inclusive, 6-day, 5-night photography tour also begins in San Jose but explores La Paz Waterfall Gardens and its five rainforest waterfalls, blue morpho butterflies, red-eyed tree frogs, poison dart frogs, snakes, monkeys, toucans, macaws, sloths, and jungle cats in a well-developed jungle resort.

Red-Eyed Tree FrogAfter La Paz, we travel to the northern highlands of Bajos del Toro and photograph the jaw-dropping waterfall of the same name that plunges 300 feet into an ancient volcano crater.  We also meander through beautiful flower gardens and photograph hummingbirds and other wildlife on the trail to the bottom of the waterfall.

Bajos del Toro, Costa RicaIn La Fortuna, we visit a chocolate farm and photograph the famous La Fortuna and Rio Celeste waterfalls, the one-lane suspension bridge over Rio Penas Blancas, an incredible meadow lake, and finish the tour capturing a spectacular sunset at Lake Arenal.

Suspension Bridge, Costa Rica
The last option for 2023 is the Pura Vida Costa Rica Photo Tour. This wonderful, 6-day, 5-night, all-inclusive photography tour starts in the northwest city of Liberia and moves to the gorgeous beach at Playa Hermosa with its vivid sunsets.

Playa Hermosa, Costa RicaAfter Playa Hermosa, we photograph one of the best waterfalls in Costa Rica called Llanos de Cortez, before hiking to Las Chorreras and Oropendola waterfalls in Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park.  We end the day relaxing in the natural hot springs of Rio Negro which features volcanic mud baths and several pools of varying temperatures.

Llanos de Cortez, Costa RicaLeaving Rincon de la Vieja, we make our way to the iconic turquoise water of Rio Celeste, then travel to La Fortuna for excellent wildlife and nature photography, and end the tour with remarkable tropical sunsets at the largest lake in Costa Rica, Lake Arenal.

Rio Celeste, Costa Rica
So, that's a brief description of the lineup for 2023, and since all these tours are during Costa Rica's dry season, you can look forward to awesome weather in gorgeous national parks and you'll enjoy award-winning hotelsgourmet cuisine, and private transportation.  You'll also learn about Costa Rica's unmatched biodiversity from our professional nature guide who shares his extensive knowledge of all things Costa Rica.

These exceptional Costa Rica photography tours are for photographers of all skill levels and there are only 4 spots available per tour.  I help you create better images by sharing my 30+ years of photography experience in one-on-one settings and your digital workflow and editing skills will improve with personalized Lightroom assistance.

The best part of these all-inclusive photography tours, is all you have to do is show up with your photo gear, and I take care of everything else and deliver superb quality.  These truly are the best photo tours in Costa Rica.
